How the team-mates compared in 2013

As always, the team-mate battles were red hot in 2013 as drivers fought for inter-team supremacy.

Some made it look easy, while others were closely matched. Here is a look at how they all compared this season.

Note: The race comparison is for when both drivers finished the race. The winner of the battle will be in brackets.

Red Bull Racing

Sebastian Vettel dominated the whole field this year, let alone his outgoing team-mate. 13 wins and three podiums later and he is a four-time champion. He blew Webber out of the water throughout the season.

Qualifying: 17-2 (Vettel)
Race: 17-0 (Vettel) - 2 retirements
Team points: 67% - 33% (Vettel)

The two 'Silver Arrows' were closely matched this year, which may surprise some. Lewis Hamilton had a slight edge in qualifying but it was completely even on race day.

Qualifying: 11-8 (Hamilton)
Race: 8-8 (Tie) - three retirements

Team points: 52% - 48% (Hamilton)

Ferrari

Fernando Alonso finished well clear of his team-mate in this season's battle, although Felipe Massa put up a bit more of a fight in qualifying.

Qualifying: 11-8 (Alonso)
Race: 15-1 (Alonso) - 3 retirements
Team points: 68% - 32% (Alonso)

Lotus F1 Team

Kimi Raikkonen was forced to miss the final two races of 2013, but in the 12 races that both Lotus cars finished, he had the edge over Romain Grosjean.

Qualifying: 10-7 (Raikkonen)
Race: 8-4 (Raikkonen) - 5 retirements
Team points: 62% - 38% (Raikkonen)

Countryman Heikki Kovalainen replaced Raikkonen for the final two races but failed to challenge Grosjean.

Qualifying: 0-2 (Grosjean)
Race: 0-2 (Grosjean
Team points: 0% - 100% (Grosjean)

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes

Sergio Perez was a relatively good match for Jenson Button in his single season for McLaren, but the 2009 world champion proved to be more competitive in the races.

Qualifying: 9-10 (Perez)
Race: 13-6 (Button)
Team points: 60% - 40% (Button)

Force India

Despite Paul di Resta beating his more experienced team-mate in their 2013 battle, he looks likely to be forced out of F1.

Qualifying: 11-8 (di Resta)

Race: 8-4 (di Resta) - seven retirements
Team points: 62% - 38% (di Resta)

Sauber

The highly-rated Nico Hulkenberg unsurprisingly won his inter-team battle with rookie Esteban Gutierrez in his single season at Sauber.

Qualifying: 18-19 (Hulkenberg)
Race: 12-3 (Hulkenberg) - four retirements
Team points: 89% - 11% (Hulkenberg)

Toro Rosso

Daniel Ricciardo continued to show his strong one-lap speed, but Vergne clawed back the gap on Sunday.

Qualifying: 15-4 (Ricciardo)
Race: 6-5 (Ricciardo) - eight retirements
Team points: 61% - 39%  (Ricciardo)

Williams

It was a terrible season for Williams, but their rookie Valtteri Bottas proved to be a strong match for the departing Pastor Maldonado.

Qualifying: 7-12 (Bottas)
Race: 9-5 (Maldonado) - five retirements
Team points: 20% - 80% (Bottas)

Marussia

Jules Bianchi proved just how talented he is in 2013; out-qualifying and out-racing GP2 race winner and fellow rookie Max Chilton throughout the year.

Qualifying: 17-2 (Bianchi)
Race: 14-2 (Bianchi) - three retirements

Caterham

Charles Pic was expected to lead the way, but rookie Giedo van der Garde gave him a run for his money and had some real stand-out performances.

Qualifying: 11-8 (Pic)
Race: 8-4 (Pic) - seven retirements
