The Interlagos circuit in Brazil is full of history and the city of Sao Paulo provides a stunning backdrop.
Nico Rosberg took victory to secure second in the drivers' championship. Here is the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend in pictures.
Friday
Lewis Hamilton got his weekend off to a strong start, setting the pace in FP1 by half a second.
Kimi Raikkonen was fifth fastest in practice one despite spinning off into the gravel late on.
Daniel Ricciardo was running the new Renault engine at Interlagos but the Red Bull driver didn't think the update made much difference.
Rosberg then moved to the front in second practice, finishing over four tenths clear of Hamilton, with Mercedes giving us a glimpse of the team's dominance in Brazil.
Max Verstappen was one of several drivers to suffer spins in practice two, losing control early on at Turn 3.
Fernando Alonso didn't complete much running in FP2 after an engine issue caused him to pull off, bringing out the red flag.
Saturday
Pastor Maldonado was one of the drivers to sample the Interlagos run-off area during FP3.
Hamilton returned to the top of the timesheets in third and final practice on Saturday morning.
Alonso also suffered an engine problem in Q1, meaning he failed to set a lap time and was forced to sit out and watch, creating some hilarious photoshops.
Alexander Rossi out-qualified his team-mate Will Stevens. Maldonado and Jenson Button were the first to be eliminated in Q1, ahead of the Manor duo and Alonso.
Romain Grosjean suffered a spin in Q2 and narrowly avoided hitting the wall, but he made it through to the final segment of qualifying.
Felipe Nasr was the first in the drop-zone in Q2, followed by Carlos Sainz Jr, Sergio Perez, Marcus Ericsson and Grosjean.
Kvyat was the lead Red Bull in Q3, setting the seventh quickest time, ahead of Felipe Massa, Ricciardo and Verstappen.
Bottas impressed with fourth, ahead of Raikkonen and Nico Hulkenberg. However, he was one of several drivers with grid penalties, including Nasr and Ricciardo.
Rosberg stormed to another pole position, with Hamilton second (but not turning up for the photo) and Vettel third.
Sunday
The F1 paddock paid tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks on the grid, as well as those who lost their lives in road traffic accidents.
Rosberg had a strong start but Hamilton tried to fight back around the outside. However, he failed to find a way through.
Vettel and Raikkonen held onto fourth, while Bottas moved from seventh to fifth and Perez ran wide.
Rosberg and Hamilton quickly pulled out a small lead over Vettel, with Raikkonen and Bottas dropping back.
Hulkenberg led a train of cars in the early stages, including Massa and Verstappen.
Rossi remained ahead of Stevens in the opening part of the Brazilian Grand Prix but things didn't finish in that order.
Ricciardo had a strong start from 19th on the grid, making up several places before an early pit stop on lap three.
Raikkonen struggled compared to Vettel but the Finn was also on a different strategy, pitting just twice.
Rosberg came under pressure from Hamilton several times but the three-time champion found it difficult to follow his team-mate and get close enough to attempt an overtake.
Grosjean completed some strong overtakes during the race, climbing up the order after his poor qualifying.
Nasr wanted to put in a good showing on home soil but he slipped down the order late on with tyre troubles.
Perez and Verstappen were involved in a great scrap, which concluded with the Toro Rosso driver passing around the outside at Turn 1.
Bottas ran in fifth for the entire race, fast enough to pull out a gap on those behind. However, he finished one lap down thanks to the pace of the two Mercedes drivers.
The McLaren drivers spent most of the race running in close proximity, finishing 15th and 16th.
Maldonado tried a different strategy, running long on his first two stints, and he initially finished 11th.
Hulkenberg put in a storming run to sixth, cutting his difficult run of races short.
It was a disappointing day for Sainz Jr, a problem on his way to the grid meant he started from the pits and he retired on lap one.
Rosberg claimed his fifth win of the season, finishing eight seconds clear of Hamilton. Vettel was third, ahead of Raikkonen, Bottas, Hulkenberg and Kvyat.
Massa finished eighth but was later excluded for a tyre infringement, promoting Grosjean to eighth, Verstappen to ninth and Maldonado to 10th.
